The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Deputy Foreign Minister of Malaysia, Mohamad Alamin, on April 15, 2025, AzVision.az reprots.
According to the information, the meeting discussed issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Malaysia in the spheres of economy, trade, energy security, and alternative energy, education, tourism, as well as issues of the regional and international agenda.
Moreover, the sides noted the existence of prospects for expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, and emphasized the importance of the mechanism of mutual contacts and political consultations in this direction.
The meeting, which discussed ways to promote Azerbaijani-ASEAN relations, also discussed possibilities of expanding cooperation within other international organizations, including the UN, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Non-Aligned Movement, and Economic Cooperation Organization of Eight Developing Countries (D-8).
The importance of Azerbaijan's admission to the D-8 membership was emphasized and welcomed.
Furthermore, it was noted with satisfaction that Azerbaijan will hold the OIC summit in Baku in 2026 within the framework of the OIC chairmanship, during which an exchange of views on cooperation issues took place.
The delegation congratulated Azerbaijan on its successful chairmanship and holding of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) on the successes achieved.
The meeting also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
On the same day, political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Malaysia. The political consultations were led by Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov from the side of Azerbaijan and Deputy Foreign Minister Mohamad Alamin from the side of Malaysia.
